“…The unchanged lattice distance of 0.212 nm from the TEM image and a hexagonal pattern from fast Fourier transform (FFT) image indicate that the embedded GQD did not undergo any decomposition during the microwave treatment. A set of TEM images for pristine BNO prepared from precursors without GQDs showed lattice distance of 0.252 nm (Figure S1a, Supporting Information), which arises from the hexagonal boron nitride (h‐BN) or crystalline BO structures …”

“…The quantum yield (QY) of GQD aqueous solution were measured at two wavelengths; exciting at 370 nm, the QY resulted to be of 32%, on the contrary, the QY excitation at 410 nm resulted to diminish to 11%. The QY at 370 nm is very high if compared to other carbon-based nanodots, 1 especially those derived from similar precursors, 19,21,27 indicating the important role played by the acids in the synthesis of bright nanodots (Table S2 †). Besides, time resolved measurements at both 370 and 410 nm excitations were performed to investigate the decay kinetics of the emission.…”

“…We believe that the use of acids during the hydrothermal carbonization of organic systems promotes the formation of uorescent nanodots with high quantum yield. [19][20][21] Herein, we investigated the effect of H 3 PO 4 on the formation of graphitic nanodots. Fluorescent GQDs were synthesized under hydrothermal conditions from urea and glucose in presence of phosphoric acid and adapted to a microwave reactor, instead of pyrolysis of the reagents 22 for minimizing time and saving energy.…”

“…The incorporation of GQDs occurred uniformly in h-BN resulted in BCNO phosphors with reduced bandgap. The blue emission ∼477 nm was obtained under excitation of 355 nm[71]. D. S. Bobade et al reports the synthesis of ZnAl 2 O 4 : Ce 3+ using aloe vera extract.…”
