Metal halide perovskites show great promise for a wide range of optoelectronic applications but are plagued by instability when exposed to air and light. This work presents low-temperature solution growth of vertically aligned CsPbBr 3 nanowire arrays in AAO (anodized aluminum oxide) templates with excellent stability, with samples exposed to air for 4 months still exhibiting comparable photoluminescence and UV stability to fresh samples. The single-crystal nanowire length is adjusted from ∼100 nm to 5 μm by adjusting the precursor solution amount and concentration, and we observe length-to-diameter ratios as high as 100. Structural characterization results indicate that large-diameter CsPbBr 3 nanowires have an orthorhombic structure, while the 10 nm- and 20 nm-diameter nanowires adopt a cubic structure. Photoluminescence shows a gradual blue-shift in emission with decreasing nanowire diameter and marginal changes under varying illumination power intensity. The CsPbBr 3 -nanowires/AAO composite exhibits excellent resistance to X-ray radiation and long-term air storage, which makes it promising for future optoelectronic applications such as X-ray scintillators. These results show how physical confinement in AAO can be used to realize CsPbBr 3 nanowire arrays and control their morphology and crystal structure.

In recent years, solution‐processed lead trihalide perovskites have been widely used as semiconductors in photodetectors with their salient features of tunable direct bandgap, long carrier lifetime, extended diffusion length, and high carrier mobility, etc. For the photodetector application, perovskites with different structures ranging from the traditional 3D perovskites to the emerging 2D perovskites, to 1D nanowires, and to 0D quantum dots, have been synthesized. In this perspective, the recent advances in the strategies of preparing novel lead trihalide perovskites with different nanostructures are summarized together with an overview on their application in photodetectors including photoconductors, photodiodes, and phototransistors. The semiconductor selection and structure–performance relationships of various photodetectors over the past 5 years are discussed comprehensively. Finally, a brief summary as well as an in‐depth discussion regarding the current challenges and perspectives for the future development of perovskite‐based photodetectors is presented.

Abstract1D metal halide perovskite (MHP) nanowires (NWs) have energized research interest owing to their unique characteristics; they are grain‐boundary‐free, efficiently transport axial carriers, in conjunction with strong radial spatial confinement. Herein, recent progress in the synthesis, integration, property characterization, and advanced optoelectronic applications of MHP NWs is systematically reviewed. The approaches to synthesize MHP NWs are mainly classified into solution‐phase and vapor‐phase methods, as well as the top‐down technique. Meanwhile, highly ordered patterns/templates‐assisted and surface‐guided alignment methods are utilized to integrate MHP NWs into NW arrays. The enhanced long‐term stability and superior optoelectronic properties of MHP NWs enable excellent optoelectronic device performance, where solar cells, photodetectors, image sensors, bionic eyes, light‐emitting diodes, resistive random‐access memories, and field‐effect transistors are mainly discussed. Finally, some perspectives for further direction of exploration to improve the device performance and path ways toward their practical applications are also provided.
