Eleven heavily used surficial-deposit aquifers in New York were mapped in 1981 to provide a basis for their protection from contamination, particularly through underground disposal of wastes. The resulting maps and sections, originally prepared and released by the U.S. Geological Survey at a scale of 1:24,000, are presented herein at a reduced scale and in simplified form.
