Growth and Brilliant Photo-Emission of Crystalline Hexagonal Column of Alq3 Microwires

Abstract: We report the growth and nanoscale luminescence characteristics of 8-hydroxyquinolinato aluminum (Alq3) with a crystalline hexagonal column morphology. Pristine Alq3 nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared using a conventional reprecipitation method. Crystal hexagonal columns of Alq3 were grown by using a surfactant-assisted self-assembly technique as an adjunct to the aforementioned reprecipitation method. The formation and structural properties of the crystalline and non-crystalline Alq3 NPs were analyzed with sca… Show more

“…Herein, we investigated the precise control of growth conditions and optical waveguide characteristics based on hexagonal tris(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum(III) (Alq 3 ) micro-crystals (MCs). Unlike previous reports, we introduced the ideal experimental construction of crystal structures with high crystallinity using simple surfactant-assisted assembly growth in a de-ionized (DI) water solution [19]. It is important to optimize the growth conditions, such as the moral ratio between organic molecules and surfactants, because the role of surfactant is very important in crystal growth, and crystallinity is closely related to optical properties [20].…”

“…00-026-1550 and published works. 30–32 All diffracted peaks in the XRPD patterns of both Alq 3 as rec and Alq 3 NP samples' powders matched with the α-Alq 3 crystal phase. The difference that can be observed between the two samples is that the intensities of the diffracted peaks of the Alq 3 as rec sample's powder are higher than those of the diffracted peaks of the Alq 3 NP powder sample.…”

“…Up to now, various growth approaches have been used for the synthesis of Alq 3 nano-or microstructures [23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31]. Partially, different variants of vacuum evaporation of Alq 3 have resulted in the creation of ne nanowires and microcrystals with a clear hexagonal morphology [23,26,29].…”
