Growth and characterization of near stoichiometric LiNbO3 single crystal

Abstract: A near stoichiometric LiNbO 3 single crystal has been grown by the Czochralski method from a 58.5% Li melt hold in a large platinum crucible. High resolution X-ray rocking curves of 3030 and 0006 reflections indicated that the near stoichiometric LiNbO 3 crystal possesses the high structural quality. Compared with the congruent LiNbO 3 , the near stoichiometric LiNbO 3 possesses shorter ultraviolet absorption edge, thus higher Li concentration. The OH -infrared absorption band analyses showed that the Li conce… Show more

“…The FWHM was measured to be 8" and 14" for (001) reflection of LN:Mg5 and LN:Mg3 crystal, respectively, which was better than the reported results [38]. It implied that they possessed high structural quality with few dislocations and thermal stress [39]. This proved that the Bridgman method could grow LN:Mg crystals with higher crystallinity.…”

“…As is well known, the synthesis temperature of LN through the conventional solid-state method is over 1100 °C, in contrast to this synthesis route, which has a much lower synthesis temperature. The unit cell parameters of as- ) [19,20] SEM analysis Figure 5 shows the scanning electron microscopy results of LN powder calcined at 600 °C and 650 °C for 5 h. The powder calcined at 600 °C (Fig. 5a) appears mainly of hexahedron particles about 100 nm, as well as some spongy particles.…”

“…Single crystals of LiTaO 3 were grown by the Czochralski technique (Lerner et al, 1968;Yao et al, 2007). The starting materials were a mixture of Li 2 CO 3 and Ta 2 O 5 with 4N purity, according to a 48.75:51.25 molar ratio of Li 2 CO 3 and Ta 2 O 5 .…”
