Growth and Yield Response of Soyabean (<i>Glycine max</i> Merr.) to Organic and Inorganic Fertilizer in Edo Rainforest of Nigeria

Abstract: In tropical and subtropical areas, the importance of organic manure and inorganic fertilizer in increasing crop production for food security cannot be overemphasized. A field study was therefore conducted at the Results showed that plant height, number of branches and number of leaves per plant were enhanced by organic and inorganic fertilizers. Similarly, combined application of organic and inorganic fertilizer increased the pod weight/plant compared to the sole application of organic and inorganic fertilizer… Show more

“…This might be due to adequate supply of nutrient element at the right time from organic and inorganic sources which helped optimum dry matter partitioning from the source to sink during reproductive stage of plant consequently increase the seed yield of soybean. The result corroborates with the findings of Falodun et al (2015). Here, T0= Control, T1= Fertilizer at Recommended Dose (RFD-Urea: 50 kg ha -1 , TSP: 150 kg ha -1 , MP: 100 kg ha -1 , Gypsum: 80 kg ha -1 and Boron: 500 g ha -1 ), T2= Biofertilizer + 50% RFD, T3= Biofertilizer + 75% RFD, T4= Mixed fertilizer + 50% RFD, T5= Mixed fertilizer + 75% RFD, T6= Vermicompost + 50% RFD, T7= Vermicompost + 75% RFD, T8= Poultry litter + 50% RFD and T9= Poultry litter + 75% RFD.…”

“…Thus the optimum growth of the plant due to favourable nutritional environment and higher uptake of nutrients might have favoured significant increase in number of pegs plant -1 and thus more number of pods plant -1 . This is Effect of Integrated Nutrient Management Practices on Growth and Yield of Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) in an Alfisols of... in agreement with the findings of Falodun et al, (2015) and Aruna and Sagar (2018). 75% STCR + Rhizobium + Humic acid + Poultry and 75% STCR + Humic acid + Poultry are at on par with each other during both the years of study.…”
