Abstract:The initiation and growth behavior of short fatigue cracks from the interfacial micro-notches in a SCS-6/Ti composite at various maximum applied stress levels were quantitatively characterized. Micro-notches in the interfacial reaction layer were induced by applying monotonic tensile loading prior to fatigue testing. The propagation and arrest behaviors of each individual crack were carefully monitored. An interface-controlled fatigue cracking model was used to predict several critical parameters which govern … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
