Guiding of Ar7+ ions through a glass microcapillary array

Abstract: a b s t r a c tWe studied the guiding effect in a glass microcapillary array with similar dimensions as for a multi-channel plate (MCP) detector. At low impact energies (<10 keV), no significant ion transmission was found. At higher energies, though the transmission after a transient period tended to be regular, temporary blocking and unexpected strong irregularities were found in the angular distribution of the transmitted ions during the early time evolution.
