H 3 tren] 3 and [H 4 tren] 4+ Fluoride Zirconates or Tantalates. -Six new compounds, [H4tren][Zr2F12]·H2O (I) (tren: tris-(2-aminoethyl)amine), α-[H4tren][Zr2F12] (II), β-[H4tren][Zr2F12] (III), [H3tren]4[ZrF8]3·4H2O (IV), α-[H3tren]2[Ta3O2F16]F (V), and β-[H3tren]2[Ta3O2F16]F (VI) are found to exist in the ZrF4 (Ta2O5)-tren-HFaq.-EtOH systems at 190°C. (I), (II), and (III) are built up from Zr 2 F 12 dimers of edge-sharing ZrF 7 polyhedra while (IV) contains the new dodecahedral ZrF8 units. (V) and (VI) are built from as yet unknown Ta3O2F16 trimers which consists of two TaOF6 pentagonal bipyramids that are linked to two opposite oxygen atoms of one central TaO2F4 tetrahedron. Compounds (I) and (II) crystallize in the orthorhombic space group P212121 with Z = 4, (III) crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2 1 /c with Z = 4, (IV) in the cubic space group I23 with Z = 2, (V) in the monoclinic space group C2/m with Z = 2, and (VI) in the rhombohedral space group R32 with Z = 3. -(SAADA, M.
