“…The RIs established in the proposed investigation for non-pregnant women deviated from those established in other countries, as shown in annex-II. The current study's upper and lower RI limits for WBC were higher than those found in earlier studies from Amhara region [24], Northwest Morocco [59], and Nigeria (RI) [21] but comparable to those found in Dire Dawa [60]. In this study, the lower RI limit of Hgb was higher than the lower RI limit of studies done in Dire Dawa [60], Amhara [24] and Northwest Morocco [59], whereas the upper RI limit was lower than other studies [24,61].…”

“…Immunological status of the study participants, as favorable (> 400 cells/mm 3 for male and > 466 cells/mm 3 for female) and unfavorable (< 400 cells/mm 3 for male and < 466 cells/mm 3 for female), was defined based on the reference interval of CD4 + cell count established for the population residing northwest Ethiopia [28]. Virological suppression was considered when the HIV-RNA level is < 1000 copies/μl at any point after 6 months of treatment with HAART [29].…”

“…Hematological and immunological reference intervals among different groups of the Ethiopian population are poorly defined. Few studies conducted in Ethiopia among apparently healthy individuals attending health institutions indicated that the presence of significant differences with those of the western, Asian, and most African countries [25][26][27][28].…”
