Harmonic State Space model of power electronics

Abstract: Thispaperpresentsatechniqueforderivingthe linearized Harmonic State Space model of a power electronic converter.TheHarmonicStateSpacemodel, inwhichharmonics of state variables, inputs and outputs are posed separately in a State Space form, can be used for dynamic small signal studies, and for harmonic steady state studies. The technique can handle autonomous switches such as diodes, and controlled switches such as IGBTs and GTOs. The technique is demonstrated by modeling a Buck-Boost converter. The HSS of the B… Show more

“…This paper focuses on the small-signal stability of MMC-HVDC connected wind farms by using impedance-based analysis method. In order to obtain an accurate MMC model, the harmonic state-space (HSS) modeling method [19], which is based on the linear time periodic (LTP) theory and is able to include all the harmonic dynamics, is introduced to model the MMC in this work.…”

“…However, since the coordinate transformations are usually not easily obtained [5], this method has not been widely used for modeling power converters. The second method is based on the harmonic state space (HSS) theory, proposed by Wereley [7], and has been used for modeling the Thyristor controlled reactor (TCR) [8], DC-DC converters [9], and a diode train [10].…”

“…This approach allows to consider the converter modulation effects and the voltage loop frequency interactions. This approach has been used to analyze the stability of an inverter applied to a locomotive [4], a dc-dc boost converter [5], diode rectifiers [6], a buck boost converter [7], an active magnetic bearing system [8] and on-line identification of vehicle fuel consumption [9].…”
