“…Therefore, we chose the mice neuronal cell line PC12, mice microglia cell line N9, human neuroblast cell line SH-SY5Y, and human lung fibroblast cell line MRC5 to evaluate the stereoselective cytotoxic effects of rac -PRO and its enantiomers on the central nervous system and respiratory system. The concentration range of the MTT assay was selected to be 0.01–0.5 mmol/L according to the previously reported toxicity study on zebra fish and microalgae. , As shown in Figure A–D, after treatment of 0.1 and 0.2 mmol/L rac -PRO and its enantiomers for 72 h, compared with rac -PRO, the isomers of trans (+)-2 S ,4 S -PRO, trans (−)-2 R ,4 R -PRO, and cis (+)-2 R ,4 S -PRO showed significant cytotoxic effects in N9, PC12, and MRC5 cell lines. Only cis (−)-2 S ,4 R -PRO did not affect cell viabilities.…”

“…The concentration range of the MTT assay was selected to be 0.01−0.5 mmol/L according to the previously reported toxicity study on zebra fish and microalgae. 40,41 As shown in Figure 5A In the above research, we investigated only the stereoselective characteristics of PRO in vivo and vitro, and the ecological toxicity of PRO in other environmental media should also be investigated. It had been reported that the feeding, digesting, excreting, and burrowing activities of thin and permeable cuticles of earthworms could affect the structure and physicochemical characteristics of soils, 42 which acts as an effective indicator for assessing the ecological environment of soil.…”

“…Since microalgae have a high ability to use excessive atmospheric carbon dioxide for biomass proliferation, microalgae are considered a potential tool for global carbon sequestration and promising biomass feedstock for diverse industries and bioproducts, including biodiesel, biogas, biohydrogen, bioethanol, and bioplastic (Hamed et al 2020a;Abdul-Latif et al 2020;Hassan et al 2012;Yu et al 2018;Hassan et al 2021). Furthermore, microalgae, particularly green species, have a high potential to grow under stressful environmental conditions of contaminated water with emerging contaminats (Hamed et al 2022b;Hamed et al 2020b;Hamed et al 2021;Hamed et al 2022c) and industrial wastewater (Hamed et al 2022a).…”

“…Propiconazole (PCZ) is a systemic, broad-range triazole fungicide that is effective against a variety of fungal pathogens (Satapute et al, 2019;Tang et al, 2022). The mechanism of action of PCZ involves the inhibition of ergosterol anabolism in fungi, which prevents spore formation (Hamed et al, 2022). This inhibitory effect is attributed to the ve-membered heterocyclic structure of PCZ, which contains three nitrogen atoms, as shown in Fig.…”
