Hazmap: A Remote Digital Measurement System for Work in Hazardous Environments

Abstract: In a continuing drive to reduce the radiation exposure of nuclear workers, many routine aspects of nuclear plant maintenance and refurbishment are increasingly undertaken by robotic or remote handling tools. “…A semi-automatic approach was adopted to measure the image co-ordinates of the projected dots. Results of image co-ordinate measurements in the Hazmap (Chapman et al, 1994) environment were used as initial estimates for the template matching.
