Health Efficiency Measurement in Turkey By Using Data Envelopment Analysis: A Systematic Review

Abstract: Objective: This paper provides a systematic literature review that compiles studies on health efficiency analysis using data envelopment analysis (DEA). This study aimed to compare different researches on efficiency analysis in healthcare in Turkey. Also it was aimed to determine which decision making unit (DMU), which input and output variables were used frequently in these researches.Method: Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is one of the most commonly used efficiency measurement methods in health care. In DEA… Show more

“…Data envelopment analysis (DEA), which can be used to measure VC technical efficiency, has been widely used in previous research (26)(27)(28)(29)(30)(31)(32)(33). However, conventional radial DEA models, such as the Constant Returns to Scale Ratio Model (CCR model) proposed by Charnes, Cooper, and Rhodes) and Variable Returns to Scale Model (BCC model) proposed by Banker, Charnes, and Cooper), only include the proportion of all inputs or outputs reduced or increased.…”

“…Therefore, this study takes RMHCs in the Shanxi Province as the research object, and the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method is used to measure their medical efficiency. The DEA method is a mature efficiency measurement method which has been used by several scholars studying medical service efficiency [8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15] . Further, we use absolute and conditional convergences to analyze the convergence of RMHC efficiency.…”
