Health‐related quality of life after myocardial infarction: an interview study

Abstract: Myocardial infarction resulted in a variety of health-related problems which affected quality of life. Systematic monitoring and evaluation of health status should be performed routinely. This is likely to be aided by the development and use of a health-related quality of life instrument for this patient group.

“…Problems in the secondary-primary care transition mean some people 'slip through the net', with negative consequences for rehabilitation and secondary prevention (Clark et al, 2005). Previous research has highlighted difficulties accessing and receiving sufficient support and advice generally (Roebuck et al, 2001), and specifically from General Practitioners (Richards and Coulter, 2007), and reticence in seeking support (Gregory et al, 2005).…”

“…The study of quality of life is important for the clinical decision making process and for the determination of therapeutic benefits, and also as a means to assess the patient's survival, in this case after coronary artery bypass grafting, which requires not only adequate medication use, but also changes in life habits (2,4) . Different researchers have looked at quality of life related to coronary artery disease and the impact of its treatment on the individual's life today (2)(3)(4)(5)(6) .…”

“…Different researchers have looked at quality of life related to coronary artery disease and the impact of its treatment on the individual's life today (2)(3)(4)(5)(6) . These studies are considered important, because, besides evaluating the therapeutic results, they generate new hypotheses and reflections that permit a broader focus in studies on quality of life, seeking methodological options in terms of the discussion of theoretical and conceptual aspects involved in the evaluation of this phenomenon.…”

(BARNASON et al, 2000;BLILEY;FERRANS, 1993;MOTZER;CIOL, 2002;FRENN et al, 1989;GULDVOG, 1999;JAIRATH, 1999;KING et al, 1992;LUKKARINEN, 1998;LUKKARINEN, H.;HENTINEN, 1997;MARCUCCIO et al, 2003;MURRAY;MAKTELOW;CLIFFORD, 2000;PAPADANTONAKI;STOTTS;PAUL, 1994;ROEBUCK;FURZE;THOMPSON, 2001;ROSS;OSTROW, 2001;SPERTUS et al, 1994;GÓIS, 2005;WENGER et al, 1984).
