Healthy Promotion for Fighting Metabolic Syndrome: Insights from Multi-Center HeRO-FiT Cohort

Abstract: We know that metabolic syndrome (MS) is a modern cardiovascular (CV) “epidemic”, especially in western populations. MS is indeed strictly related to the risk of developing CV diseases (CVD) and/or diabetes. Therefore, the aim of our multi-center study was to promote a “healthy style” for fighting MS. “…Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a complex pathophysiologic condition characterized by several markers of dysregulation, including obesity, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and elevated blood glucose levels, and is a strong predictor of morbidity and cardiovascular disease (CVD)-related mortality [ 1 , 2 ]. Previous studies have indicated that early stage prevention and intervention are very effective at preventing and reducing the severity of CVD [ 3 , 4 ]. The middle-age and senior periods are important stages in the prevention and management of MetS owing to the increased susceptibility of individuals to MetS during these periods [ 5 7 ].…”
