“…Hermeneutics has been accused of not providing clear criteria for interpretation, but the paper presents three hermeneutic criteria to rely on: the hermeneutic imperative, historicity and the hermeneutic object. In the following sections, the paper combines Figal’s (2010) hermeneutic concept of “objectivity” with Heidegger’s (2002, 2010) imagery of walking along a country path to develop the fieldpath approach, which is oriented towards materiality and appreciating that which stands against us.
