Objective: The aim of this study is to discuss how financial education can influence the population's ability to make decisions about the family budget in order to verify on which factors such decisions are based;
Theoretical Framework: It uses as a theoretical basis the following authors and theoretical categories: Educação Financeira (Reinaldo Domingos), Tomada de Decisões (Jessica Silva e Síntria Lautert) e Orçamento Familiar (Gabriela Vettorello);
Method: The methodology adopted for this research involves a survey of recent scientific works within the repositories of SciELO Brazil, CAPES, UNEB and UFBA. This research is restricted only as a bibliographic research;
Results and Discussion: It finds that behavioral issues act as a complement to financial education. It also highlights the existence of emotional factors, such as financial well-being. It concludes that there is an influence of these aspects within the individual's decision-making process;
Research Implications: The practical and theoretical implications of this research provide reflections on the development and stability of the citizen, as well as the society where he lives, since it deals with a theme that directly interferes in the rationalization of decision-making within the social system and its relations;
Originality-Value: The relevance of this discussion is related both to the individual well-being of the citizen and to the development and stability of society as a whole.
