“…In addition, the effect of the organic degumming process was approximate to that of chemical degumming. However, the organic degumming process still required high temperature, high reagent cost, high energy consumption, and subsequent solvent recovery was a new problem (Qu et al 2020a;Qu et al 2020b;Qu et al 2020c). Therefore, it is urgent and essential to call for the development of clean, eco-friendly, effective, water and energy conservation degumming or pretreatment processes for hemp fibers.…”

“…When ramie fibers were first treated with 2% sulfuric acid and then subjected to 6% NaOH treatment, the resulting RGC (7%) was lower than that of ammonia degumming mentioned in this study, and the experimental steps were more intricate . Moreover, the RGC of the ammonia degummed fiber was comparable to that of FeCl 3 –OS (approximately 3.88%), while the yield was slightly higher (76.3 vs 75.2%) . Additionally, an enzyme mixture could be used to degummed ramie fiber at a lower temperature (40 °C), which was environmentally friendly due to the absence of chemicals.…”

“…The scanning range was 4000-500 cm −1 , the resolution was 4 cm −1 , and each wavelength was scanned 32 times. 10 Thermogravimetric analysis A STA449F3 synchronous thermal analyzer was used to analyze the thermal stability of the industrial hemp ber before and aer degumming. 11 The test was conducted in a nitrogen atmosphere at a gas ow rate of 10 mL min −1 .…”
