High gain circularly polarized slot‐coupled antenna for millimeter wave applications

Abstract: A high gain circularly polarized millimeter-wave x-slot antenna with surface mounted horn is presented. Substrate integrated waveguide technology is adopted to achieve low profile feeding structure to excite the x-shaped slot backed by a circular cavity. As a gain enhancing technique, a surface mounted horn, made from a very thin copper sheet is placed over the x-slot to achieve a realized gain more than 15 dB.
