High performance compact optical cryptosystem without reference arm

Abstract: We present a new compact scheme to ensure high performance optical encryption. In this scheme, the encrypted data and the security key are recorded without need for a reference arm, resulting in a significant decrease in the size and complexity of the cryptosystem. The efficacy of the compact scheme to protect data is verified by encrypting and decrypting different inputs. We also test the resistance to both random noise and data loss. Additionally, the potential of the system is evaluated by encoding the data… Show more

“…Later, the optical DRPE was extended from the FD to the FrD [ 12 ], the fractional Fourier domain [ 13 ] and the Collins domain [ 14 ] in order to improve the security of the encryption system. The DRPE can also be optically implemented with a nonlinear joint transform correlator (JTC) architecture in different optical processing domains (such as FD and FrD) with the purpose of increasing the quality of the decrypted image and obtaining better security over the encrypted image and practical setups with no hard alignment requirements [ 3 , 4 , 5 , 15 , 16 , 17 , 18 , 19 , 20 ].…”
