High Performance Miscible Polyetherimide/Bismaleimide Resins with Simultaneously Improved Integrated Properties Based on a Novel Hyperbranched Polysiloxane Having a High Degree of Branching

Abstract: Amino-terminated hyperbranched polysiloxane (AHBSi) with high degree of branching (= 0.8) was synthesized by a control hydrolysis of γ-aminopropyl triethoxysilane (APTES) without using any catalyst. Besides, AHBSi was used as the compatibilizer of the miscible polyetherimide (PEI)/bismaleimide (BD) blend, and the influence of the content of AHBSi on the compatibility and integrated performance of the PEI/BD blend was systematically investigated. The corresponding investigation of the APTES/PEI/BD system was al… Show more

“…About 10.0 mg of the sample was put in an alumina crucible and heated from Limited oxygen index (OI) values were measured on a Stanton Redcrat Flame Meter (England) according to ASTM D2863-2009; at least five samples for each formulation were tested. The dimensions of each sample were (100 ± 0.02) × (6.5 ± 0.02) × (3 ± 0.02) mm 3 .…”

“…Similar phenomena have also been reported in other systems. 1,3 Note that the physical interaction between PTEI and BMI/BA resin is enhanced with an increase in the amount of PTEI. Two influences obviously lead to the phenomena shown in Figures 5 and 6.…”
