“…Compared with the active tapered all-fiber laser oscillator in Ref. [29], which shares a close equivalent core diameter of~25 µm, the fiber oscillator based on the CCTC fiber (equivalent core diameter of 27.3 µm) has a higher output power and TMI threshold under our experimental conditions.…”

“…The constant cladding can make the uniformity and concentricity of the fiber coating much easier to control in the fabrication process. Compared with a traditional tapered fiber (in which the core and cladding vary simultaneously along the fiber) [29,30] , the constant cladding diameter of the CCTC fiber means a varying core-cladding ratio, which has a smoother thermal load profile along the fiber. In addition, the large core section provides a large mode area to suppress the SRS effect.…”

“…In 2018, a birefringent Yb-doped tapered fiber was demonstrated for linearly polarized CW and pulsed high-power amplifiers. [23] In 2019, the double cladding tapered Yb-doped fiber was used in a high-power monolithic fiber laser oscillator, which obtained the maximum average power of 1720 W when employing 975 nm pump source, [24] but the TMI effect occurred at the output power of 1350 W when employing 915 nm pump.…”

“…B. Yang et al have constructed a monolithic tapered ytterbium-doped fiber laser oscillator and investigated the laser oscillator performance with respect to 976 nm and 915 nm pump, especially on the aspects of the TMI. They report the highest average power for the tapered ytterbium-doped fiber lasers [11]. N. Dalloz et al conceived a bidirectional 793 nm diode-pumped actively Q-switched Tm 3+ , Ho 3+ -codoped silica polarization-maintaining (PM) double-clad (DC) fiber laser.…”
