High-Resolution X-ray Imaging Based on Solution-Phase-Synthesized Cs3Cu2I5 Scintillator Nanowire Array

Abstract: Lead-free copper halide scintillators have shown tremendous potential applications in X-ray detection and imaging. However, the imaging resolution is still rather limited due to the lack of a scintillation waveguide, especially for the solution-processed nanocrystal scintillators. Here, we report a solution synthesis route for Cs3Cu2I5 nanowire (NW) arrays via an anodized aluminum oxide (AAO) template-assisted in situ growth. As the NWs grow, the precursor concentration directly affects the length and uniformi… Show more

“…The full widths at half maximum (FWHM) of the PL spectra is ≈106.7 nm, similar to those previously reported for low-dimensional metal halides with STEs. [2,18,[34][35][36] It is of note that the overlapping area of PLE and PL is small, indicating the ignorable self-absorption, which provides a certain prerequisite for the high light yield as expected. [9] Small overlapping between normalized UV-vis absorption and PL spectra is also observed (Figure S4, Supporting Information).…”

“…35 Under X-ray radiation, copper-based perovskite scintillators exhibit high spatial resolution, excellent linear response, and low dose rate limit. [36][37][38] A 6 Li-doped Cs 3 Cu 2 I 5 single crystal has a light yield of 96 000 ph per neutron for thermal neutron radiation, which implies their potential in thermal neutron detection. 38 However, the neutron absorption efficiency of the crystal scintillator is restricted by the doping content, and the area of the scintillation screen is limited for some applications.…”

“…[19][20][21][22][23][24][25] In addition, Cs 3 Cu 2 I 5 NCs exhibit optical properties comparable to those of other bulk materials such as Cs 3 Cu 2 I 5 powders, Cs 3 Cu 2 I 5 films, and so on. [26][27][28] Inspired by these works, we try to precipitate Cs 3 Cu 2 I 5 NCs in glass.…”
