High School Students’ Perception of University and Faculty Members

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, lise öğrencilerinin üniversite, öğrenci ve öğretim elemanı kavramlarına ilişkin sahip oldukları metaforik algıyı etkileyen etmenlerin incelenmesidir. Niteliksel yöntemlerin kullanıldığı çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak Üniversite ve Öğretim Elemanı Metaforik Algı Anketi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya maksimum çeşitlilik örneklemesi yöntemine göre belirlenmiş 404 öğrenciye katılmış, veriler içerik analizine tabi tutulmuştur. Öğrenciler üniversite kavramına ilişkin olumlu, öğretim elemanı kavramına ilişkin olumsuz algıya sahiptir. Öğrenciler üniversite için en çok hayat ve özgürlük; öğretim elemanı kavramı için de diktator ve patron metaforlarını kullanmışlardır. Bu sonuç öğrencilerin üniversite, öğrenci ve öğretim elemanı algılarının oluşmasında sorumluluk almanın ve özgürlüğün önemini ortaya koymuştur. Olumsuz olan algının azaltılmasında ortaöğretim kurumlarına, bu kurumlardaki rehberlik servislerine ve öğretmenlere sorumluluk düşmektedir.
