High Sensitive C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP) and Its Correlation with Angiographic Severity of Patient with Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)

Abstract: Severity of CAD was assessed by vessel score, stenosis score and extent score.Result: Significant positive correlation (r=0.7409; p<0.001 r=0.6648; p<0.001 and r=0.6386; p<0.001) Less than 50% of the CAD can be ascribed to traditional risk factors and rests are unexplained. 7 CRP has emerged as the most exquisitely sensitive systemic marker of inflammation and a powerful predictive marker of future cardiovascular risk. Role for inflammation has become well established over the past decade or more in theorie… Show more

“…Various hypotheses to explain the possible mechanism of which hs-CRP increasing the atherosclerotic risk have been proposed [15] . It has been thought that the development of atherosclerosis was led by serum hs-CRP level [5], [6], [7], [8], [9], [10], [11], [12]. Creactive protein previously has been proposed to correlate with the extent of atherosclerosis [14].…”

“…There for we investigate the possible association between serum hs-CRP with atherosclerosis severity. hs-CRP levels were also shown associated with increased cardiovascular risk [7], [8], [9], [10]. Several new pharmacological approaches have been discovered to reduce hs-CRP levels [11], [12].…”

“…The increase in CRP concentration was associated with cardiovascular disease incidence in the future and may predict coronary atherosclerotic disease. (20) Nyandak et al (13) also investigated the relationship between CRP and coronary stenosis by angiography and found a positive correlation; whereas if CRP was correlated with angiographic extent score. The CRP concentration was higher in patients with this angiographic degree of stenosis, showing that CRP concentration was correlated with degree of disease severity in patients with CHD.…”

“…Toth et al (19) found changes in hemorheological parameters in CHD. Hasnat et al (20) concluded that there is an association in patients with CHD between the concentration of highly sensitive C reactive protein (hs-CRP) and CHD severity in comparison to controls. (20) Atherosclerotic plaques, in addition to being a disease of lipid deposition, also have a role in systemic inflammation as their main key, and may be expected to predict the early stages of coronary stenosis.…”
