“…The addition of organic fertilizer will change soil physical and chemical properties, and also improve soil enzyme activity 42 . These changes in soil environment are closely related to the structure of microorganisms 43,44 . Besides, the application of organic fertilizer will inevitably affect the nutrient content of soil.…”

“…The costal mud flat in Dafeng Nature Reserve is the central part of this area, which keeps growing by 50-200 m per year towards the Yellow Sea. The area is under the influence of the northern subtropical monsoon climate, with a mean annual temperature of 15°C and a mean annual rainfall of 1058 mm (Long et al 2016;Li et al 2018;Jiang et al 2019). Halophytic vegetation like Arundo donax (Poaceae) and Suaeda salsa (Chenopodiaceae) are the pioneer plants on this saline soil, followed by the common reed Phragmites australis (Poaceae) mixed with cogongrass Imperata cylindrica (Poaceae), which are the dominant species after the salinity drops (Li et al 2018).…”

“…The rhizosphere soil samples were then stored separately in sterilized bags and transported to the laboratory on ice. Soil chemical properties, including organic matter (OM) content and available phosphorus (AP), were measured as described in our previous study (Jiang et al 2019). Soil pH and electrical conductivity (EC) were measured in a 1 : 5 (w/v) suspension at 25°C.…”

“…Salinization is a worldwide problem and is particularly acute in semi-arid areas. The area of salinized soil in the world is about 9.55 × 10 8 hm 2 , among which the salinized soil area accounts for about 3.78% of the total area in China [1,2], most of which is distributed in arid and semi-arid areas of China [3]. The stability of an oasis ecological environment is related to the survival of humans, social stability, and sustainable development of the economy in the whole arid area.…”

“…The objectives of this paper are the following: (1) to explore the spatial distribution characteristics of soil salinity and moisture; (2) to identify the influential factors of spatial variation of soil salinity and moisture; and (3) to determine the interaction between factors affecting the spatial distribution of soil salinity and moisture in a typical agricultural irrigation area of the oasis in an arid area. Finally, we provide a reference for comprehensively mastering the degree and distribution of salinization, the prevention of salinization, and the stable agricultural production and sustainable development of oasis agriculture.…”
