“…A high-quality HMD provided optimal display size, refresh rates, and display resolution. It allowed for replication of the high-fidelity environment, a high level of control and a better pictorial realism leading to higher immersion and SoP (Diemer et al, 2015;Huber et al, 2018). Nevertheless, technology alone can fall short of achieving SoP (Wallach, Safir, & Samana, 2010).…”

“…Current research studies employing VR-HMDs are still ongoing. This includes scientific applications involving surgical training ( Karvonen et al, 2017 ; Huber et al, 2018 ) and psychological interventions ( Laver et al, 2015 ; Chirico et al, 2016 ).…”

“…The HTC Vive ( Figure 14B ) and the Oculus Rift CV1 HMDs are two excellent lightweight solutions for carrying visualization tasks and interactivity in 3D space, with the former being a few steps ahead when it comes to FOV and tracking area ( Huber et al, 2018 ). Consequently, we exploited the HTC Vive for the development of a VR visualization and interactive analysis tool called VR Data Interact, deposited in a Dryad repository ( Figure 14C ; Agus et al, 2018a , b ).…”

“…Due to the costly nature of this course, training opportunities for the students are sparse. Following the approach of Huber et al [7], conducting the examination in virtual reality (VR) is a promising alternative. This reduces costs and time investments for the examination experts as well a providing students multiple training opportunities.…”
