Highly sensitive spectrofluorimetric method for rapid determination of orciprenaline in biological fluids and pharmaceuticals

Abstract: Orciprenaline sulphate (ORP) is a direct‐acting sympathomimetic with mainly beta‐adrenoceptor stimulant activity. It is used as a bronchodilator in the management of reversible airway obstruction. For the first time, a rapid highly sensitive spectrofluorimetric method is described that is relied on measuring the fluorescence spectra of ORP at acidic pH and without addition of any chemical reagents. The relative fluorescence intensity was measured at 310 nm and after excitation at 224 nm. ORP native fluorescenc… Show more

“…Its capacity of detection is approximately one order of magnitude greater than that of molecular absorption spectroscopy, and its selectivity is clearly greater than that of other spectroscopic methods. Accordingly, spectrofluorometry has been applied for the analysis of different analytes in complex matrices [ 29 31 ]. Furthermore, in the developing countries (that include Egypt), the application of spectrofluorometry in bioanalysis continues to be popular due to the simplicity, the common availability of the instrumentation, and the low cost without the need of costly infrastructure that is not applicable in QC labs with limited fund.…”

“…Spectrofluorimetric methods are advantageous in many aspects. They are highly sensitive [9]. In addition, spectrofluorimetric methods offer a high degree of selectivity because not all substances that absorb in the UV-region emit fluorescence.…”
