Highly Stable New Organic–Inorganic Hybrid 3D Perovskite CH3NH3PdI3 and 2D Perovskite (CH3NH3)3Pd2I7: DFT Analysis, Synthesis, Structure, Transition Behavior, and Physical Properties

Abstract: The feasibility of Pd-based organic−inorganic hybrid perovskites is comprehensively explored with both theoretical and experimental methods for the first time. Experimentally, the new 3D perovskite CH 3 NH 3 PdI 3 (tetragonal, I4cm) can be transited to a new 2D perovskite (CH 3 NH 3 ) 3 Pd 2 I 7 (tetragonal, P4mm) by modulating the ratio of the organic part to inorganic part. The structure, lattice parameters, and symmetry of these two perovskites are verified by a series of simulations, refinement, and charac… Show more

“…Thermal stability was also explored by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) measurement . The TGA curves in Figure revealed that both the 3D perovskite CH 3 NH 3 PdI 3 and 2D perovskite (CH 3 NH 3 )3Pd 2 I 7 were thermally stable up to 250 °C, comparable to other hybrid perovskites.…”

“…[ 10–15 ] Many solutions have been proposed to improve the long‐term stability, such as interface engineering, [ 16,17 ] controlling the crystal structure, [ 18,19 ] encapsulation, [ 20,21 ] and designing the perovskite materials. [ 22,23 ] The preparation of low‐dimensional Ruddlesden–Popper (RP) perovskites has become one of the most promising measures. [ 24–27 ] However, the photovoltaic performances of low‐dimensional RP perovskites are still unsatisfactory.…”

“…10 Theoretically, the nature of ABO 3 perovskites can be explained by making use of density functional theory (DFT) calculations and this would lead to further exploration of the electronic structural properties. 31 In this work, we present a kinetic analysis of morin oxidation in the presence of perovskites containing transition metal cations. We aim at developing an understanding of the effect of electron-density distribution on a transition metal in the BO 6 coordination environment of the ABO 3 perovskite on reaction kinetics using density functional theory (DFT) calculations.…”
