Severe hypertension and acute renal failure in complete occlusion of renal artery. Surgical treatmentTwo children, 8 and 11 year old, presented with severe hypertension, secondary to unilateral and bilateral complete occlusion of renal arteries respectively. One had also acute renal failure. Both arterial pressure and renal function returned to normal after treatment. High clinical suspicion index, routine blood pressure control and a rational laboratory workup provide the best chances of early diagnosis to renovascular hypertension. Surgical management of appropriately selected cases ensures preservation of renal function and cure of secondary hypertension due to renal artery occlusive disease. (Key words: arterial hypertension, secondary, renovascular, renal arteiy occlusion).
