“…Poza Anteojo exhibited many hallmarks of significant isolation from other sites in the Cuatro Ciénegas basin, such as lowest heterozygosity and higher pairwise divergence between sampling sites. Although it is possible that gene flow might have occurred during the relatively wet cycles in the Holocene that increased water levels of lakes in this desert and caused vegetation changes (Furlong et al, 2007; Butzer et al, 2008), the relative rates of migration and assignment tests indicate there was no evidence for genetic exchange between Poza Anteojo and the other sampling sites in the Cuatro Ciénegas basin. These analyses suggest a common pattern of isolation with strong effects of drift.…”
