Hopf-Bifurcation Analysis of Pneumococcal Pneumonia with Time Delays

Abstract: In this paper, a mathematical model of pneumococcal pneumonia with time delays is proposed. The stability theory of delay differential equations is used to analyze the model. The results show that the disease-free equilibrium is asymptotically stable if the control reproduction ratioR0is less than unity and unstable otherwise. The stability of equilibria with delays shows that the endemic equilibrium is locally stable without delays and stable if the delays are under conditions. The existence of Hopf-bifurcati… Show more

“…Recently, Soliman and Bueno (2018) used the basic Susceptible-Infected-Recovered (SIR) model to analyse and predict the transmission rate of pneumonia in the Philippines. Mbabazi et al (2019) formulated a Susceptible-Vaccinated-Exposed-Carrier-Infected (SVECI) model, which was a time delay model for pneumonia. From the literature, there were only two studies on pneumonia disease that used the stochastic model (Smith et al, 1993;Melegaro et al, 2002).…”

“…In 2019, Tilahun et al analysed a coinfection mathematical model for pneumonia and bacterial meningitis [ 16 ]. Mbabazi et al, in 2019, proposed a pneumococcal pneumonia model with time delays mathematically, Hopf-bifurcation was analysed [ 17 ]. In 2020, Otoo et al analysed a model of pneumonia spread by bacteria.…”
