Hot Deformation Characteristics and Processing Parameter Optimization of Al–6.32Zn–2.10Mg Alloy Using Constitutive Equation and Processing Map

Abstract: Hot compression tests over the temperature range from 350 °C to 500 °C and strain rates range from 0.001 s−1 to 1 s−1 for homogenized Al–6.32Zn–2.10Mg alloy were carried out on a Gleeble-3800 thermal simulation machine to characterize its hot deformation behavior. At the same time, a modified Arrhenius constitutive equation was established to describe the flow behavior of the alloy, whose average absolute error is 2.89%, which proved to have an excellent predictive effect on the flow stress of the alloy. The h… Show more

“…In the hot deformation process, the Q value of the aluminum alloy reflects the deformation resistance, the ln Z value reflects the recrystallization trend in the deformation process, and power dissipation efficiency η reflects the deformation mechanism of the material [ 26 , 27 ]. During thermal deformation, deformation occurs more readily under conditions of low resistance, where the Q value is small.…”

“…Hot processing maps based on the dynamic material model are widely used to guide the hot plastic working of aluminum alloys [ 26 , 27 ]. Figure 6 illustrates the hot processing maps under different strain conditions, and the details of establishing the hot processing maps can be referred to in the literature [ 18 , 28 , 29 , 30 , 31 ].…”

“…The traditional Arrhenius constitutive equation merely treats four material parameters as constants to describe the stress and strain at various temperatures and strain rates. However, in fact, these four parameters are not constants and are variables accompanying strain changes [23,24]. Therefore, it is necessary to import strain as an important parameter to modify Arrhenius constitutive equation.…”
