“…Therefore, a study of the crowd cyber system requires systemic analysis of the network connectivity among intelligent agents to assess the value they create (Li et al , 2019a, 2019 b). Measuring both profitability and risk is not straightforward; account needs to be taken of operating costs, customer availability, transaction costs related to transparent information and optimization models.…”

“…Our results contribute to the notion of crowd science and engineering and are in line with the recent work on crowd cyber systems (Chai et al , 2017; Liu et al , 2018). This multidisciplinary framework (Li et al , 2019a, 2019 b; Han et al , 2019) is based on several theories that include methods and tools able to capture the emergent concept of crowd cyber systems. Our research on sharing economy logistics and crowd logistics provides some answers to questions posed in the context of crowd cyber systems regarding crowd intelligence in the logistics sector.…”

“…As for crowd logistics platforms, rigorous driver selection system, secure messaging system, demandsupply matching system, path planning system and secure online payment system are supposed to be integrated to platforms [9], of which informative support can coordinate logistics resource-demand match and influence logistics agility, thus improving logistics performance [5] [10]. It is suggested that platform designers should analyse how a change of task load or task assignments impact drivers' behaviours, in that business model of CL may be intrusive to commuter workers who need to deviate from routine routes for carrying parcels [11].…”

“…The sharing economy refers to a diverse ensemble of initiatives (Acquier et al , 2019) that connect individuals through platforms to carry out sales, rentals, swaps or donations (Gansky, 2010); create and share goods, services, space and money with each other (Miller, 2016); produce, access and circulate resources (Carbone et al , 2018); and centralize access to idle assets, making them available for use (Botsman and Rogers, 2010). Sharing through a community-based online platform makes a great deal of practical and economic sense for the consumer and promotes sustainable environmental, social and economic development (Belk, 2014; Li et al , 2019).…”

“…Narrowing the focus to crowd logistics initiatives, studies have investigated how this specific type of sharing initiative creates value through platforms (resource matching, operations management and risk control) (Li et al , 2019), helps drivers to provide customers with faster and more flexible logistics services (Zhang et al , 2019), enables cost optimization (Frehe et al , 2017) and reduces the transportation carbon footprint. However, the negative impacts of crowd logistics have only been highlighted in a few studies, mentioning the controversial environmental impact (Carbone et al , 2018) or exploring critical social issues concerning in particular precarious working conditions and road safety (Dablanc et al , 2017).…”
