“…As the MMC platform is a technological bridge for doctorpatient interaction, uncovering the factors that influence consumer negative engagement in MMC from a patient-platform interaction lens is needed. Based on the TAM model, the studies focusing on patient-platform interaction have mainly investigated the adoption of MMC services based on widely-accepted adoption variables such as perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, perceived trust and perceived privacy (Li et al, 2022b;Zhang et al, 2022), indicating that consumer responses to technology caused by technology characteristics can affect the adoption of technology services. However, there are two limitations, i.e.…”

“…As MHSs are a technological and health service innovation for individuals, it is critical to study whether the innovation can earn user acceptance and adoption (Shareef et al ., 2014; Dwivedi et al ., 2016; Li et al ., 2022). From a consumer perspective, when MHSs are recognized and utilized by users, they will have access to advanced health services and improve their health conditions and quality of life (Alam et al ., 2022; Hasan et al ., 2022)Most scholars have utilized various theories to investigate users' MHS acceptance and adoption behaviors, such as the theory of reasoned action (TRA) (Zhang et al ., 2014), theory of planned behavior (TPB) (Zhang et al ., 2020), technology acceptance model (TAM) (e.g.…”

“…With the development of mobile and leading-edge information technologies (e.g. cloud computing), mobile health services (MHSs) have become a new paradigm for users (consumers) to conduct self-care management anytime and anywhere to enhance quality healthcare (Gao et al, 2015;Sun et al, 2023;Li et al, 2022). According to the World Health Organization (WHO), MHSs are defined as "medical and public health practice supported by mobile devices, such as mobile phones, patient monitoring devices, personal digital assistants, and other wireless devices" (Nisha et al, 2019).…”

“…This has led to a heightened awareness of the need for public health literacy. Information and communication technology (ICT) is now playing an essential role in disseminating health knowledge and providing individuals with opportunities to obtain valuable health information (Li et al, 2022;Xing et al, 2020). Approximately 51% of Americans acknowledge that they tend to seek medical advice on the internet, including social media platforms.…”
