How the dimensions of culture influence supply chain collaboration: an explanatory sequential mixed-methods investigation

Abstract: PurposeThis study aims to demonstrate how integration is achieved in an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design by assessing the effect of collaborative cultural dimensions on supply chain collaboration amongst firms in Ghana's downstream petroleum sector. Specifically, the study examined how collectivism, long-term orientation, power symmetry, as well as uncertainty avoidance influence supply chain collaboration. Besides, it also demonstrates how integration is achieved in an explanatory sequential mixed-… Show more

“…The study further assessed the measurement model, using measurement criteria that scrutinize the model's performance, quality, and suitability. Exhibit 3 presents findings that indicate the model attains reliability and validity, considering that all the criteria thresholds are met (Acquah, Naude, & Soni, 2021; Hair et al., 2019). Using inner and outer Variance Inflation Factors (VIF) to assess multicollinearity, the results confirm that all VIFs met the criteria (Acquah, Naude, & Sendra‐García, 2021; Ringle et al., 2015).…”

“…(2015), studies that employ PLS structural equation modeling should report R 2 and Q 2 . While the R 2 explains the variance of dependent variables predicted by independent variables, the Q 2 explains a model achieves predictive relevance if Q 2 values are > 0 (Acquah, Naude, & Soni, 2021; Hair et al., 2019). As presented in Exhibit 5, the model achieves robust predictions of the dependent variables and has predictive relevance since all Q 2 were > 0.…”

“…Long-term orientation refers to the degree to which members of a culture orient their efforts towards the future (Acquah et al, 2021;Hofstede, 2011). Stakeholders with a short-term orientation show respect for traditions and have a focus on quick results.…”

“…This strand of literature is related to our paper, in the sense that institutional pillars can shape the behavior of companies in relation to carbon disclosure. Companies operating in different institutional environments may deal with different national characteristics and this can lead to more transparent disclosure (Acquah et al, 2021;Amorim et al, 2021;Pinheiro, Costa, et al, 2021;Soares et al, 2018). We believe that the Institutional Theory is the most appropriate to analyze the results, since it goes beyond the physical space of the organization and focuses on how organizations build their legitimacy while maintaining values and respecting the needs of society and national charac-teristics (Davis & North, 1970).…”
