“…Theoretically, the study contributes to the extant literature on SE by presenting and highlighting the four systems associated with it and proposing the categorisation based on socio-technological theory. The current study expands understanding on SE where social issues are discussed such as waste reduction (food wastage), social responsibilities, sustainability and environmental issues [Harvey et al, 2019;Mazzucchelli et al, 2020;Minami, Ramos, Bortoluzzo, 2021]. The contribution of this study extends into the field of socio-technology where until now its application was very much limited to social engineering.…”

“…There are specific platforms for agriculture and food, and they can be divided into five major categories: i) new marketplaces; ii) Trade and sharing; iii) Professionals and private individuals; iv) Crowdfunding; and v) Peer-to-peer: private individuals. Mazzucchelli et al (2021) analyzed the key factors, impacts and the connections between drivers of the success of sharing food platforms using multiple regression and fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis. The results reveal the fundamental and interconnected roles of consumer familiarity, perception of environmental and social responsibility, and community social support, in enhancing consumer behavioral response.…”

“…At the consumer level, the most important SI reuse practice is surely represented by food-sharing. This term does not refer to the general human tendency to eat together and share food, which has been studied by anthropologists as a distinguishing feature with a unique complexity [81]; rather, it refers to a particular implementation of the sharing economy that allows people to connect, interact, and exchange food, usually through the use of ICT [82][83][84][85][86]. Michelini et al, 2017, provide a taxonomy of food sharing models differentiated on the basis of a number of variables (organization profile, type of technology, delivery model, type of donor, type of beneficiary, type of transaction, social impact, management feature).…”
