HPLC, Two-Dimensional TLC Determination of Phenolic Content, and anIn VitroPerspective to Antioxidant Potential ofEuonymus verrucosusScop. Extracts

Abstract: Summary. The presence of phenolic content in overground extracts of Euonymus verrucosus Scop. -commonly growing in Europe -has been reported recently. The chromatographical and spectral data revealed the presence of several simple phenolic acids (gallic, protocatechuic, p-hydroxybenzoic, vanillic, syringic, caffeic, p-coumaric, ferulic, and m-coumaric acids), both as free and conjugated with other secondary metabolites. The comparison of two-dimensional TLC systems on cellulose stationary phases with HPLC-DAD r… Show more

“…Although a great deal of wastewater treatment plans have been developed, the best way to deal with these problems is to reduce the use of water and chemicals. 6,7 Moreover, if indigo dyeing can be carried out on the loose cotton fibers, a series of cotton yarns with various performance, shapes, and indigo colors would be produced through spinning. Aided by changes in fiber composition, proportion, and the spinning method, and then in weaving (tatting or knitting), abundant fabric surface effects could be produced through the selection of yarn and texture variation, allowing more personalized high-quality new denim products to potentially be developed.…”

“…The antioxidant activity of the investigated material was characterized by the IC 50 values related to the concentration of extract able to deactivate half of the radicals present in the tested sample (see Table 1) [11]. The lower the IC 50 value, the higher the antioxidant activity of the product.…”

“…In the case of microwave heating, the trend was opposite-there was a decrease to 36 mg/g after 5 min [105]. The decrease in the antioxidant activity with an increase in temperature may result from ongoing processes and reactions leading to the formation of new substances with lower antioxidant activity compared to compounds present in the unprocessed raw material (for example, the formation of shogaols from gingerols in the case of ginger rhizome) [106]. A new method of Alpinia officinarum treatment whose effect on antioxidant activity would be worth investigating is lyophilization (freeze-drying), which uses low temperature, rather than the elevated temperature that we have used in every treatment method we have studied.…”
