Hsa_Circ_0001206 is downregulated and inhibits cell proliferation, migration and invasion in prostate cancer

Abstract: Our study is to explore the expression profiles and potential functions of circRNAs in prostate cancer (PCa). A total of 95 circRNAs and 830 mRNAs were screened to be significantly differentially expressed in PCa tissues by microarrays. Co-expression and competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network were constructed to reveal the potential regulatory mechanisms of circRNAs. Three circRNAs, hsa_circ_0001206, hsa_circ_0001633, and hsa_circ_0009061 were validated to be down-regulated in PCa by quantitative real-time… Show more

“…For instance, circ‐ABCC4 advocates the progression of prostate cancer by acting as competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) of miR‐1182 via promoting the expression of forkhead box P4 . Another study reveals that circ_0001206 is decreased in prostate cancer tumor tissue and represses cell proliferation, migration and invasion in prostate cancer cells . Additionally, a recent research discloses that the decreased circ‐itchy E3 ubiquitin‐protein ligase associates with more severe pathological T stage, increased lymph node metastasis risk and worse survival in patients with prostate cancer .…”

“…Recent evidences have suggested that circRNAs involve in far‐ranging biological processes, including transcription, mRNA splicing, RNA decay and translation, and their deregulation takes pivotal roles in the development and metastasis of various tumors, such as glioma, 15 hepatoblastoma, 16 colorectal cancer, 17 lung cancer, 18 prostate cancer, 19 bladder cancer, 20 and gastric cancer 21 . For example, Li et al revealed that circANKS1B promotes colorectal cancer cell migration and invasion by working as a molecular sponge of miR‐149 to regulate FOXM1 and Slug protein expressions 17 .…”

“…Several publications particularly focused on androgen receptor pathway related circRNAs [54][55][56][57]. Correlations between the expression of circRNAs and relevant clinicopathological factors or survival Kaplan-Meier analyses have been reported [44,51,[58][59][60][61][62]. However, it is astonishing that the potential of circRNAs as diagnostic and prognostic tissue biomarkers has so far only been evaluated in isolated cases [47,58,61].…”

However, it is astonishing that the potential of circRNAs as diagnostic and prognostic tissue biomarkers has so far only been evaluated in isolated cases [47,58,61]. As far as we know, only one study has ever conducted multivariate analyses of circRNAs in connection with clinicopathological factors [61].…”
