Livestock is one of the agricultural sectors that plays an important role in providing animal products. Cows are one of the largest meat and dairy producers. The low reproductive efficiency of cattle is the biggest problem in terms of its development. Increasing reproductive efficiency through artificial insemination programs is one way to enhance livestock populations. Reproductive efficiency parameters can be measured through values of Service per Conception (S/C) and Conception Rate (CR). Service per conception and conception rate are related to cows parity. Parity is the number of calf that have been born to a cow. This study aimed to provide information on reproductive efficiency as seen from the value of S/C and CR of cows in different parieties and the factors that influence them. High rates of parity followed by high S/C score and low CR. Each animal has various values of S/C and CR. The normal range for S/C is 1.6-2.0 and 60% in CR. Several factors that affect reproductive efficiency are environment, nutrition, Body Condition Score (BCS), knowledge of farmers, inseminator skills and quality of semen used. The highest service per conception (S/C) value was at parity 5 with aged ± 7 years and the conception rate (CR) was at parity 3 aged ± 5 years.Keywords: should be written in no more than 5 (five) words or phrases.

This study aimed to determine the Body Condition Score (BCS) in Pesisir cattle. The Pesisir cattle used were 200 heads, which were located in Lengayang District, Pesisir Selatan Regency, Sumatera Barat Province. Research data was collected using a survey method by direct observations in the field and interviews with farmers. The research variable that was observed was the Body Condition Score (BCS). BCS value was measured using a scale of 1-3 (thin/medium/fat). The proportion of Pesisir cattle with BCS 1, 2, 3 was 14.5%, 70.5% and 15.0%, respectively. The BCS value of Pesisir cattle owned by farmers in the research location was in the normal range which refers to the standard BCS value of 1-3. Keyword: Body Condition Score, Pesisir cattle

This case study aims to determine the effect of a combination of prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) with Gonadotropin (PG-600), and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) on the estrus and pregnancy rates in Holstein Friesian (HF) cows with persistent corpus luteum (PCL). A total of 15 Holstein Friesian (HF) dairy cows aged 3-5 years with body condition score (BCS) 5-7 (scale 1-9) diagnosed with PCL, were injected with 7.5 mg PGF2α intra-vulvar submucosa. Cows were then divided into three treatment groups. Group P0 was not given the combination treatment, while P1 group was injected with a combination of 300 IU PG-600 and 150 IU hCG, meanwhile P2 group was was injected with a combination of 300 IU PG-600 and 300 IU hCG intra-muscularly. The PGF2α and PG-600 injections were carried out on the same day PCL was diagnosed. Meanwhile, the injection of hCG was carried out at the same time as the AI. The Pregnancy examination was performed 90 days after AI through rectal palpation. The results showed that all treated cows were estrus observed with the fastest onset of estrus was the P2 group, that was significantly different (p <0.05) compared to the P0 and P1 groups. All treated cows were diagnosed as pregnant. It can be concluded that the administration of PGF2α or its combination with gonadotropins in HF cows with PCL could result in 100% estrus and pregnancy rates.
