Background: Diabetes mellitus is third highest cause of death in Indonesia with percentage 6.71%, and 2018 Indonesia was ranked seventh among the 10 countries with most diabetes with prevalence based on blood sugar level test results 8.56%. Adam Malik General Hospital is one of the hospitals with the highest percentage of diabetes in Medan with the cases reported by 1,323 people in 2020. Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the factors related to the incidence of diabetes at the Adam Malik General Hospital. Methods: This was a cross-sectional analytical design study. The study was conducted at Adam Malik General Hospital between April 22-May 4, 2021. The population of this study included all patients who went to internal medicine, while the sample part of the population (99 respondents) was sampled accidentally. The research instruments used were questionnaires, and data collection used primary and secondary data. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: Three variables were related to the incidence of DM at Adam Malik General Hospital: family history of DM (P =0.00; PR=3.03; 95% CI= <1.37 PR <2.73), physical activity (P =0.00; PR= 3.33; 95% CI= <1.59 PR <6.95), and age (P =0.00; PR= 0.19; 95%CI= <0.52, PR <0.71). Conclusion: This study is that there are three factors related to occurrence of diabetes, namely family history, physical activity, and age. It is necessary to carry out regular physical activity every day and conduct health checks, especially for those who have a family history of DM.

Introduction: One of the complaints that often arise in early pregnancy (generally in the first months of pregnancy until the end of the first trimester) is nausea and vomiting (emesis gravidarum). Some research results state that the use of aromatherapy can help to reduce complaints of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. This study aims to determine the perception of pregnant women in applying complementary therapy to overcome emesis gravidarum in the first trimester of pregnancy. Methods: The design used in this study was quantitative descriptive research design with cross sectional approach. This research was conducted in three private midwifery services in South Denpasar Distric. The sample in this study amounted to 100 respondents with purposive sampling technique. This research was conducted for one month, in June 2021. The instrument used is a questionnaire and data were analysed by descriptive analysis. Results: Almost all pregnant women (90%) did not have access to the use of complementary therapies, most pregnant women (78%) did not have traditional and cultural beliefs to use complementary therapies, most pregnant women (58%) had lack of knowledge about complementary therapy, and almost all pregnant women (91%) had a negative perception about the use of complementary therapies to deal with complaints of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is almost all pregnant women have a negative perception of the use of complementary therapies to treat emesis gravidarum. Expected that more health workers will provide education about complementary therapies to overcome emesis gravidarum.

ABSTRAKSuppositoria merupakan sediaan obat dengan cara penggunaan khusus, yang mengharuskan pasien memiliki pengetahuan tentang cara penggunaan suppositoria yang benar. Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat perbedaan tingkat pengetahuan penggunaan suppositoria sebelum dan sesudah diberikan edukasi. Penelitian ini merupakan suatu penelitian analitik, pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling. Sampel penelitian didapatkan dari 43 responden yang merupakan pasien rawat jalan yang menebus resep suppositoria di Depo Farmasi Rawat Jalan RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. Teknik pengambilan data melalui pre-test/post-test design menggunakan kuesioner yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya dan edukasi melaui media leaflet. Analisis yang dilakukan menggunakan uji Wilcoxon. Hasil yang didapatkan pada saat pre-test tingkat pengetahuan responden yang dominan terdapat dalam kategori cukup 60,47% dan post-test yang dominan dalam kategori baik 90,70%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna pada skor pengetahuan responden antara sebelum dan sesudah pemberian edukasi (p= 0,000). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan skor pengetahuan pasien yang menggunakan suppositoria sebelum dan sesudah diberikan edukasi.Kata kunci: Pengetahuan; Edukasi; Suppositoria; Leaflet; Pre-test; Post-test ABSTRACTSuppositories are drug with a spesial way of use,with required the patients to have knowledge of how to use suppositories correctly. This research aim to study the difference in the level of knowledge in usage of suppositories before and after being given education. An analytical research, by purposive sampling.The research sample was obtained from 43 respondents who were outpatients who bought suppository prescription to Outpatient Pharmacy Depot, at Dr. M. Djamil public hospital in Padang. Data collection techniques through pre-test/post-test design using questionnaires that have been tested for validity and reliability and education through leaflet media (p=0.000). The analysis was carried out using Wilcoxon's test. The results obtained during the pre-test showed that the dominant respondent's level of knowledge was in the sufficient category 60.47% and the post-test dominant in the good category 90.70%. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the level of knowledge of respondents between before and after giving education through leaflet media (p= 0.000). It can be concluded that there are differences in the level of knowledge patients who use suppositories before and after being given education.
