Human Physiological Parameter Detection System Based on Android and Arduino

Abstract: Abstract. According to the need of real-time monitoring of the human physiological parameters, a human physiological parameters detection system based on Android and Arduino is proposed. Human body temperature and pulse value are measured by the detection circuit of Arduino, and these data are transferred to mobile devices via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The application software based on Android system displays and stores these physiological parameter data. When the measured value is beyond the threshold, it w… Show more

“…Although in all studies the data is transferred from sensor nodes to the Internet or cloud server, they are generally classified as personal applications because a personal mobile smartphone is used. On the other hand, there are some studies which use an additional MCU on the gateway device and an application runs on this processor [6,17,20]. The designs in these studies are costly due to extra MCU, CPU, hardware, or operating system usage and are not suitable for the IoT applications requiring low power consumption.…”

“…Data was sent from the smartphone to the Bluno microcontroller via BLE for 3.5 days, to another smartphone via Classic Bluetooth for 2 days, and from the smartphone to the laptop via Wi-Fi for 1 day. In another study, researchers conduct the detection of certain physiological parameters in individuals using Android and Arduino technologies, where information regarding body temperature and pulse is acquired from sensors connected to the subjects and transmitted to a smartphone via BLE [17]. If the information collected is beyond the threshold, the guardian is noti ed by SMS.…”
