Hybrid filler composition optimization for tensile strength of jute fibre-reinforced polymer composite

Abstract: In present research work, pultrusion process is used to develop jute fibre-reinforced polyester (GFRP) composite and experiments have been performed on an indigenously developed pultrusion experimental setup. The developed composite consists of natural jute fibre as reinforcement and unsaturated polyester resin as matrix with hybrid filler containing bagasse fibre, carbon black and calcium carbonate (CaCO 3). The effect of weight content of bagasse fibre, carbon black and calcium carbonate on tensile strength … Show more

“…Fillers were blended with resin. The polyester resin was found very suitable matrix material (Gupta et al , 2016). Moschiar et al (1996) studied the heat transfer model of pultrusion process, Carlone et al (2006) discussed its thermochemical conditions and Joshi and Lam (2001) studied the heat transfer aspects of the resin using pultrusion process and found it a suitable manufacturing process.…”

“…Natural fibres as reinforcement to PLA matrix can be regarded as an ideal alternative to increase the mechanical performance of the composites as well as making it environmentally friendly. There are many natural fibres that have been studied to reinforce polymers, such as kenaf (Ochi 2008), hemp (Masirek et al 2007), jute (Gupta et al 2016), flax (Duhovic et al 2009), and wheat straw (Ghaffar et al 2017;Chougan et al 2020). Among natural fibres available, it can be argued that bamboo fibres are the most suitable candidate as reinforcement for PLA matrix due to their favorable properties Liu et al 2018;Long et al 2019;Chen et al 2020;Wang et al 2017;Zhang et al 2020;Zuo et al 2020).…”

“…It is used in products that feature reduced cost and improved quality [9]. The mixed orthogonal table for the Taguchi quality design procedure identifies important control factors and a statistical analysis of signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio is followed by an analysis of variance (ANOVA) [10]. Chen et al [11] used a grey based Taguchi method to determine the processing parameters for a CrWN thin film coating by considering multiple levels of performance.…”
