Hybris

Abstract: Besides well-known benefits, commodity cloud storage also raises concerns that include security, reliability, and consistency. We present Hybris key-value store, the first robust hybrid cloud storage system, aiming at addressing these concerns leveraging both private and public cloud resources. Hybris robustly replicates metadata on trusted private premises (private cloud), separately from data which is dispersed (using replication or erasure coding) across multiple untrusted public clouds. Hybris maintains me… Show more

“…The sensitive regions are stored in private cloud and insensitive regions are stored in public cloud. Viotti et al [18] proposed a data partitioning technique for hybrid clouds. Credential is kept in a trusted private premise (private cloud), and replicated or erasure coding data is dispersed across multiple untrusted public clouds.…”

“…In that case, it will facilitate inter-hospital treatment for patients and provide third-party organizations such as the insurance industry with authoritative and reliable access to customer medical data, further facilitating the development of the healthcare industry [8][9]. In the healthcare field, cloud storage has the advantages of low cost, easy deployment and efficient storage, and the operations on its platform are largely automated, making it the ideal environment for deploying standard data security access and sharing mechanisms [10][11]. Therefore, how to securely access and share medical data in an open cloud storage environment is an urgent problem in healthcare.…”

“…The problem of data placement has been widely investigated in the Cloud environment. The proposed techniques have considered many issues related to the hybrid storage system of a centralized cloud as in [17,35,41,57,62,78,81] and distributed clouds like [30,43,46,50,72,76,79,83]. State-of-the-art studies have considered different objectives under different constraints.…”
