Hydrocarbon Fractions from Thermolysis of Waste Plastics as Components of Engine Fuels

Abstract: Plastics are one of the basic construction materials with a wide range of various applications. One of their disadvantages is the problem of managing the waste they generate. Chemical recycling offers the possibility of liquefying polymeric waste and using it as fuel components. Existing technologies giving good quality products are expensive. The HT technology developed and described by the authors is cheaper and enables a high quality product to be obtained. The authors have shown that the quality of the rec… Show more

“…Therefore, one of the disadvantages of plastics today is related to their management. However, chemical recycling makes it possible to liquefy polymer waste and use them as fuel components, but such technologies are expensive [33]. Despite the fact that the recycling of plastic waste is increasing every year, more than 27% of plastic is thrown away [34].…”

“…The average lifespan of a plastic product is only one day to three years. However, the time required for these goods to decompose is still excessively long; for instance, it takes plastic products an average of 300-500 years to deteriorate 2 . Many plastic pieces are contaminated with metals, paper, other kinds of polymers, and/or other fillers, preventing mechanical recycling of the entire plastic collection.…”
