Hydrogen-rich water promotes the formation of bulblets in Lilium davidii var. unicolor through regulating sucrose and starch metabolism

Abstract: Main conclusion HRW increased the content of starch and sucrose via regulating a series of sucrose and starch synthesis genes, which induced the formation of bulblets and adventitious roots of Lilium davidii var. unicolor. Abstract Hydrogen gas (H 2 ), as a signaling molecule, has been reported to be involved in plant growth and development. Here, the effect of hydrogen-rich water (HRW) on the formation of bulblets and adventitious roots i… Show more

“…Starch and sucrose metabolisms hold central positions in carbohydrate metabolism. 28 Among the 135 genes in the starch and sucrose metabolism pathway, eight genes were up-regulated after AVM exposure in the gastrointestinal tract. Among them, the alpha glucosidase, endo-beta-1,4-glucanase and cellulase GHF9 genes had very high fold changes (FC > 10) (Table 2, Supporting Information TableS5, Fig.…”

“…Compared with the CTAB method, the Kit method resulted in higher yield and purity RNA from bulb scales that contain high levels of polysaccharides and polyphenols. Previous studies reported that Kit method could be used to isolate RNA from bulb of Lanzhou lily 20 , 21 . However, the Kit protocol is not suitable for extracting total RNA from root, stem and leaf of Lilium in the current study (Table 1 ).…”

“…In this study, carbohydrate metabolism and amino acid metabolism were found to be significantly enriched ( p < 0.05). Starch metabolism and sucrose metabolism are the main carbohydrate metabolism of R. chrysanthum , which takes place through two different pathways [ 22 , 23 ]. The first pathway occurs in the chloroplast is starch synthesis.…”
