Abstract:This article provides a review of different methods for managing waste tyres. Around 1.5 billion scrap tyres make their way into the environmental cycle each year, so there is an extreme demand to manage and mitigate the environmental impact which occurs from landfilling and burning. Numerous approaches are targeted to recycle and reuse the tyre rubber in various applications. Among them, one of the most important methods for sustainable environmental stewardship is converting tyre rubber components into bio-oil. In this study, scrap tyre management techniques including landfill, retreading, recycling, combustion, and conversion to liquid fuels was reviewed (including gasification, hydrothermal liquefaction, and pyrolysis). The effects of parameters such as reactor types, pyrolysis temperature, and catalyst on the oil, gas and solid products in pyrolysis process were investigated.

The paper presents the results of research on the possibility of using as plasticizers of rubber compounds the heavy fractions of pyrolytic oil obtained in the industrial process of pyrolysis of car tyres. The content of carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the obtained pyrolytic plasticizers was determined. Compounds and vulcanizates of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) containing the above plasticizers as well as commercial petroleum derivatives' plasticizers were prepared for comparative purposes. The basic properties of compounds and vulcanizates containing pyrolytic plasticizers were investigated. The research showed that one fraction of pyrolysis oil meet the requirements of the permitted content of PAHs. SBR blends and vulcanizates have similar properties as in the case of commercial plasticizers.

Zarządzanie emisją z olejów opałowych zawierających frakcję oleju popirolitycznego Artykuł przedstawia możliwości wykorzystania frakcji popirolitycznej jako samoistnego paliwa lub jako komponentu olejów opałowych na podstawie uzyskanych wyników z badań i pomiarów emisji składników gazowo-pyłowych do atmosfery. Zarządzanie powstającymi emisjami pozwoli uzyskać informację na temat przebiegu procesu spalania skomponowanych paliw (zawierających frakcję popirolityczną) oraz porównać wielkości emitowanych zanieczyszczeń tego typu paliwa z tradycyjnymi olejami opałowymi.Słowa kluczowe: emisja zanieczyszczeń do atmosfery, olej popirolityczny, piroliza zużytych opon. Managing emissions from heating fuels containing a fraction of post-pyrolithic oilThe article presents the possibility of using a post-pyrolithic fraction as a spontaneous fuel, or as a component of heating fuels, based on the obtained measurements of emission of gaseous and particulate components into the atmosphere. Management of the resulting emissions will allow to obtain information on the combustion process of the composed fuels (containing postpyrolithic fraction) as well as the comparison of the amount of pollutants by this type of fuel with conventional heating oils.Key words: emission of pollutants into the atmosphere, post-pyrolithic oil, pyrolysis of used tires.
