Trivalent neodymium doped ZnO (Zn 1-x Nd x O, x = 0.0, 0.03, 0.06 and 0.09) nanoparticles (NPs) synthesized by co-precipitation method with improved optical and antibacterial performance is reported. X-ray diffraction pattern indicates most of Nd 3? ions are incorporated in Zn 2? ions of ZnO lattice and hence there is no secondary peak of NdO 3 in synthesized ZnO NPs. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis of synthesized NPs exhibits similar patterns in Zn/Nd-O bands observed at 480 cm -1 . High resolution scanning electron microscopy images revealed the formation of spindle like morphology and the incorporation of Nd ions is confirmed by energy dispersive spectra analysis. UV-visible absorption spectra of pure and Nd doped ZnO NPs showed the variation of the band gap in the range of 3.06-2.65 eV. Raman analysis confirmed the formation of wurtzite structure of NPs was distorted due to Nd substitution in ZnO matrix. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirmed the Nd incorporation in the ZnO lattice as Nd 3? . The prepared Nd doped ZnO NPs showed potential application in antibacterial activities.

In the yttrium aluminium system, the YAlO3 phosphor is a prominent host because of the yttrium aluminium ratio (1:1). Phosphor was synthesized by the solid-state reaction method at variable concentrations of erbium (0.1-2.5 mol%). This method is suitable for large-scale production and is a less time-consuming method when compared with the soft synthesis method. The prepared sample was characterized by X-ray diffraction technique and the crystallite size was calculated by Scherer's formula. Vibrational and bending analysis of prepared phosphor for optimized concentration of erbium ion is described based on the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopic technique. The photoluminescence (PL) emission spectra of prepared phosphor for variable concentrations of erbium ion were recorded and the excitation spectrum was found to be at 291 nm with three shoulder peaks at 305, 270 and 242 nm. For 291 nm excitation, the emission spectrum was found at 546 nm and 552 nm. PL intensity increased with increasing concentrations of erbium and after 2 mol% emission intensity decreased due to concentration quenching. Spectrophotometric determination of YAlO3:Er(3+) is described by CIE co-ordinates and shows an intense emission in the green region such that the prepared phosphor can act as a single host for green light emission. Thermoluminescence glow curve analysis of the YAlO3:Er(3+) phosphor was recorded for different ultraviolet (UV) light exposures and gamma exposure. Different gamma doses 0.5-2 kGy show a linear response. Kinetic parameters were calculated by the peak shape method.

Summary This review underlines the importance of the developments in perovskite catalysts for methane combustion from the past up to the present. In this review, after a general and brief introduction to perovskites, the mechanisms of catalytic combustion of methane have been included. Moreover, current studies on perovskites have been summarized including the effects of substitutions, doped perovskites, perovskite preparation methods, and the effect of sulfur presence on perovskite catalysts. Besides, recent studies on perovskite oxides and phenomenon of oxygen (O2) deficiency, porous perovskite oxides, and nanostructured perovskites have been conducted. In addition, partial oxidation of methane (POM) has been reviewed. The loss of active component during the POM reaction can take place in the nickel catalyst, in particular. Since nickel has a lower melting point than noble metals and other active components, such as Co and Fe, in general, to deactivate nickel is easier. Compared with conventional structure, the porous structure with the unique morphology significantly enhances the catalytic activity through a much larger surface area (SA) and greater reactivity of the active sites. Furthermore, the monolithic nanoarrayed perovskite presents very good results in well‐defined faceted catalysts and takes part in porous channel hydrocarbon combustion. This review study is prepared as a guide to cover the profound knowledge of perovskite oxides catalysts, considering the methane combustion reaction mechanisms, and addresses prospective studies in this field for researchers.
