“…Although a standard OO bond length of 1.480 Å has been suggested for dialkyl peroxides, shorter bonds are observed with electron withdrawing substituents and longer bonds suggest cyclic strain as in 1,2‐dioxacyclobutane and 1,2‐dioxacyclopropane (dioxirane) 1, 2, 8, 9, 63. In our studies of six‐membered ring oxygen heterocycles it was observed that B3LYP/6‐311+G(d,p) predicts OO bonds in the chair conformations of 1,2‐dioxacyclohexane (C 2 ), 1,2,4,5‐tetraoxacyclohexane (C 2h ), and 3,3,6,6‐tetramethyl‐1,2,4,5‐tetraoxacyclohexane (C 2h ) to be 1.457, 1.462, and 1.457 Å, respectively.…”
